Why I Chose Shoshana Ranch for My Art Studio Home
As an artist, finding the perfect place to create and live is about more than just a house—it’s about inspiration, connection to nature, and accessibility. Shoshana Ranch checked every box and then some, which is why I chose to build my art studio home here. This magical corner of Colorado has become my sanctuary, fueling my creativity and grounding me in beauty every day.
One of the biggest draws for me is the endless backpacking opportunities in every direction. From rugged trails leading into the national forest to serene paths winding through meadows, I can step out my door and immerse myself in nature whenever inspiration calls. These treks, whether a quick hike or a multi-day adventure, recharge my soul and spark ideas for my next canvas. The landscape here feels like it’s begging to be painted.
The location is perfect for balancing my artistic life with professional commitments. Being just 30 minutes from Fort Collins means I can easily pop into town for supplies or to connect with the local art scene. And at 90 minutes from Denver, visiting my galleries and meeting with collectors is a breeze. I love that I can live in this peaceful mountain haven without sacrificing access to the cities that support my career.
The views from my studio are nothing short of breathtaking. The dramatic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, with their jagged peaks and ever-changing light, is a constant source of inspiration. I often find myself pausing mid-brushstroke to gaze out at the vistas—it’s like the landscape is collaborating with me on every piece. This scenery doesn’t just inspire; it feels alive.
What truly sets Shoshana Ranch apart, though, is the wildlife. The resident herds of elk and mule deer, especially in the springtime, are a joy to watch. Seeing them graze or move gracefully across the hills adds a layer of magic to my days. Their presence reminds me of the wild, untamed beauty I’m surrounded by, and that energy flows into my work.
Building my art studio home at Shoshana Ranch was the best decision I could’ve made. The backpacking, the proximity to Fort Collins and Denver, the awe-inspiring views, and the elk and deer that feel like neighbors—it’s all woven into the fabric of my creative life. This place isn’t just where I live; it’s where my art comes to life.
